The Atlanta Southside SDA Church is a miraculous story of faith and hard work.

In the 1960s, Clayton County in Georgia witnessed explosive growth, but it did not have any organized Seventh-day Adventist church at that time. Elder Perry Green, who was then the pastor of the Belvedere SDA Church, wanted to start a church on the south side of Atlanta. In 1967, he held cottage meetings at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Owens in Hapeville. Subsequently, Brother LaMont Francisco offered his home on Pleasant Valley Drive in Morrow as a meeting place, and a Branch Sabbath School was established. The Forest Park SDA Church was organized on September 30, 1967, and 36 people signed up as charter members. The name of the church was officially changed to Atlanta Southside SDA Church on March 23, 1968, to reflect its location on the south side of Atlanta.

Over the years, the church has also had its share of trials and tribulations, such as losing its building to a tornado, which necessitated the building of a new one. But the members remained steadfast in their faith and committed to their mission.

The church has played an active role in the community, including providing support to the homeless, disaster victims, and others in need. The church has also hosted numerous events, such as health fairs and cooking classes, to promote health and wellness. It also supported the community by offering a private school, Atlanta Adventist Academy, which opened its doors in 1969. The church held many social events, including picnics, youth outings, and dinners, and continued to build its membership and support its congregation in various ways.

Our history is a testament to its members' faith, hard work, and dedication to their community, as well as the Lord's providence in guiding them to the right locations and opportunities. The church continues to be a vital part of the community, serving as a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of faith and perseverance.

Atlanta Southside has been blessed with dedicated members who have worked tirelessly to make the church a vibrant center of worship and service. The history of the church is a history of miracles, although there was hard work by the members over the years, without the Lord's providence it could not have lasted for 56 years. Today, the Southside Church is a thriving community of believers who are committed to spreading the gospel and serving the needs of their community.
